Terms & conditions
These are the Terms that apply when you use the Korah app. The version shown in the app when you use it is the one that applies to your account. Where a rate or service list below is described as “shown in the app”, the app has the current figures.
1. Agreement to these Terms
Korah Money Transfer (“Korah”) is a trading name of Makorah Tech Limited, a company incorporated in Sierra Leone (incorporation number SL190826MAKOR31518). By creating an account or using the Korah app (“App”, “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. What Korah is
Korah connects you with a network of registered agents who process cash-pickup money transfers on your behalf through Ria, MoneyGram, Western Union, Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay. Korah operates as a sub-agent under a licensed money transfer operator, and does not itself hold a separate money transfer license. Korah does not receive, hold, or take custody of your funds at any point — money moves through the named provider’s own settlement network, the same way it would if you visited an agent counter in person. The App’s role is to collect what an agent needs to act on your transfer (transfer code, ID, payout number) and to coordinate the agent who processes it.
Transfers through Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay work the same way: you submit your transfer code and ID, the agent processes the transfer at the counter, and the amount is paid out to the mobile money number you give. Where a commission applies to those services, it is shown in the App; where none applies, the amount is paid out in full, and no referral credit applies to those services (see section 6).
3. Eligibility
To use Korah you must be at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter a binding agreement, hold a phone number capable of receiving SMS or WhatsApp verification codes, and be able to provide accurate identification documents when requested.
4. Account registration & ID verification
You register with your phone number, verified by a one-time code (dialed on your phone or sent by SMS or WhatsApp). Before you can send a transfer as “Myself” — collecting the payout under your own identity — you must complete ID verification: a photo of a valid ID and your address, reviewed and approved by an agent. Approved verification carries an expiry date; you’ll be notified as it approaches (one month, one week, and one day before expiry) and again once it has expired, and you’ll need to re-verify before sending further “Myself” transfers. You are responsible for keeping your account details and verification documents accurate and current. You may not hold more than one account per phone number, and you may not use another person’s identity or phone number without their knowledge and consent.
5. How a transfer works
You submit the transfer details — the service (Ria, MoneyGram, Western Union, Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay), whether it’s for “Myself” or a “Friend”, the transfer code, ID, and a payout mobile money number — through the App. An agent reviews and confirms the transfer, then pays out the corresponding amount by mobile money to the number you provided. A mobile money reference number is required for the agent to confirm every payout, and that reference is kept as your proof the transfer was paid out. A commission is added to each confirmed Ria, MoneyGram or Western Union payout, and to each confirmed payout on other services where the App shows a commission for that service, and daily/monthly limits may apply to your account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the transfer code, recipient details, and payout number you submit — Korah and its agents are not responsible for a payout sent to a number you entered incorrectly.
6. Commission & referral credit
Korah adds a commission to each confirmed Ria, MoneyGram or Western Union transfer — 3% by default. It is calculated as a percentage of the transfer amount, paid to you on top of that amount, and is not deducted from it. The rate that applies is the one shown to you when you submit the transfer. Referral credit, where it applies, is added to the payout on your own next “Myself” transfer and does not change the commission rate.
For transfers made through Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay, any commission is set per service and shown in the App; where none is shown, you will not receive a commission, and those transfers are paid out in full. No referral credit applies to these services.
7. Referral program
Each user has a referral code to share. A phone number may redeem a referral code once, ever — this cannot be repeated even if the account is deleted and re-created. When someone you referred completes their first confirmed Ria, MoneyGram or Western Union transfer, you earn referral credit equal to 0.3% of the amount they collected. Transfers through Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay do not earn or use referral credit; if their first transfer is through one of those services, the referral carries over to their next Ria, MoneyGram or Western Union transfer. This credit has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn or transferred, and cannot be applied to a “Friend” transfer — it is applied automatically, only to your own next “Myself” transfer through Ria, MoneyGram or Western Union. Korah may withhold, reverse, or void referral credit obtained through abuse of the referral system, including coordinated multi-account redemption.
8. Errors, corrections & reversals
If a transaction was confirmed in error, an administrator may correct the recorded amount or reverse the transaction entirely; a reversal also unwinds any referral credit that transaction generated or consumed. Every correction and reversal is logged with a timestamp and a stated reason. If you believe a transaction was processed incorrectly, contact support through the in-app chat as soon as possible.
9. Prohibited use
You agree not to use Korah to send or receive funds connected to money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or any other illegal activity; to provide false, altered, or another person’s identification documents; to create multiple accounts to get around referral limits, transaction limits, or verification requirements; to interfere with or attempt unauthorized access to the App or its systems; or to use the App for anything other than legitimate personal or friend-initiated transfers. Violating this section may lead to immediate suspension or termination of your account, forfeiture of referral credit, and reporting to our licensed operator and/or the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Suspension, termination & deletion
Korah may suspend or terminate your account for suspected fraud, abuse, a violation of these Terms, or at the request of our licensed operator or a competent authority. You may request deletion of your account at any time through the App. Deletion takes effect after a short grace period, during which you can reverse the request; after that, your account and associated data are permanently removed, except where a record must be kept to comply with anti-money-laundering or other legal requirements.
11. Your information & privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy policy.
12. Service availability
Korah depends on Ria, MoneyGram, Western Union, Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB and Transfapay, mobile money networks, and agent availability, none of which we control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the App or instant payout, though we work to flag known issues promptly through the App.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Sierra Leonean law, Korah’s role is limited to facilitating the connection between you and the processing agent and provider network. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by Ria, MoneyGram, Western Union, Afro International (including Remitly, WorldRemit and Transfast), Sika Cash and Nafa, BnB or Transfapay, or mobile money networks; for losses arising from transfer codes, recipient details, or payout numbers you entered incorrectly; or for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Sierra Leonean law.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms. We’ll flag material changes in the App.
15. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Korah will first be raised through in-app Support; unresolved disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sierra Leone.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be raised at any time through the in-app Support chat.
